About Liz

Elizabeth Bart (She/Her)

If I had to choose my main area of specialization in the field of ABA, I would say that I am best when diving deep into a project I can sink my teeth into. It is so satisfying to break down abstract concepts in ways that people can truly understand, whether it be for parents, supervisees, or my learners.

I am obsessed with that moment when the lightbulb turns on and someone truly understands something for the first time… and even better, when they start talking about all the ways they can apply it… Yeah, I love that.

I have been working in the field of ABA since the mid 1990s, in which I accidentally stumbled across an opportunity to work with a wonderful 6-year-old girl and never looked back. It was an unusual start to my career, because her parents warned me on my first day that my learner did NOT enjoy the “ABA program” that was designed for her. So, my first experience in the field of ABA was to learn what not to do in the field of ABA! I believe this colored my perception of the field, and allowed me to take a step back and consider the implications and long-term consequences of the way children are taught.

I had the honor of co-founding Enriching the Lives of Children with Autism (ELCA) with my dear friends Jen and Juanita early in my career, and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2011. After we made the difficult decision to sell the company, I worked as a senior clinician and clinical director at two other ABA agencies in the Bay Area.

I’ve got a pretty relentless creative streak, but I believe that when you’re doing it right, ABA is part science and part art. Because of that (and because I hate being bored), I am obsessed with creative side projects.

I also wrote a children’s book called Little Red Slider Steps Out. It’s about a young turtle who learns that although it takes bravery to try new things, sometimes the best rewards can be found in unexpected places. You can check out my website on these links if you wish. They will take you from this website but never fear: you can navigate back through my “About Me” pages on these websites as well!

Yes, I’m a busy girl. Hey, thanks for reading all the way through! I hope you have a marvelous day.
